It all started at a Melbourne Cup function in 1998 when Robert Wood began chatting to Geoff Dixon about what was missing in the Workers’ Compensation industry, where they were currently employed.
As a result of the conversation, they become inspired with the concept of establishing their own independent business to address this gap in the industry. They approached another colleague Morag Fitzsimons, who was equally inspired and WCD was founded.
The aim of WCD was to provide a benefit to their clients no other company was effectively achieving. Their outcome was to bring together all the requisite components that make up Workers’ Compensation in a comprehensive and cohesive fashion throughout Australia and beyond.
Their vision included creating WCD as a model for a working environment where there was a collegiate spirit, collaborative work practices, a sense of fun and with honour and respect for people as individuals and work/life balance.
Nine years later this has been achieved with outstanding results for WCD and its clients.
At it’s heart, the vision of WCD is to help organisations avoid damage to their people and, in the event of that damage occurring, help them back into the workforce and their normal lifestyle in a manner that is cost efficient and compassionate.
